Brief Summary

For many months our community has discussed the need for expanded healthcare services here in Patterson.  To ensure these needs are addressed quickly, we have submitted a citizens’ initiative called the “City of Patterson Healthcare Expansion Act” to City Hall.

If approved by the City Council or local voters, this initiative will allow the Del Puerto Health Center to move to an expanded facility in order to:

This initiative will not increase taxes and it will bring hundreds of new jobs to Patterson at a time when they are desperately needed.

The Del Puerto Health Center is currently located in a small facility on Ward Avenue. The doctors and nurses at the Health Center see over 100 patients a day in a facility that is far too small.  By moving to a larger facility at the KeyStone Pacific Business Park the Health Center will be able to provide the doctors and specialists we need, including primary care, pediatrics, internal medicine, cardiology, radiology, neurology, orthopedics, minor surgery and urgent care.

This initiative makes the minor zoning changes that are needed for the Health Center to move to the expanded facility. We have recently submitted over 2,000 signatures to City Hall. This is well over the 10% of the registered Patterson voters that was needed to qualify the initiative.  This initiative will now go to the City Council and they will have two options:  (1) to adopt the initiative so that it becomes law or (2) to place the issue on the ballot for Patterson voters to decide.  The initiative process ensures that the issue will be decided promptly so that the Health Center can proceed with their planned move and begin providing expanded medical services for the community as soon as possible.
