Your Voice: Initiative has one purpose

It is unfortunate that some in our community are deliberately trying to mislead the public about the intent of the City of Patterson Healthcare Expansion Act.
The purpose of this initiative is to allow the Del Puerto Health Center to move to an expanded facility at the Keystone Pacific Business Park just west of Baldwin Road. This initiative will not increase taxes by one dime. It will mean that Patterson residents have access to medical care and specialists without having to travel to Modesto and beyond.
Some have asked me a legitimate question: If the intent of the initiative is so simple, why is the initiative so long? Well, this simple move of our health center requires changes and additions to several different zoning laws and other codes. Each of those changes has the same purpose — to allow our health center to move.
