Your Voice: Feel-good Canvassing

I was one of about two dozen volunteers who walked door to door in our community last weekend to collect signatures to qualify the City of Patterson Healthcare Expansion Act for a special election.
It was so nice to join with dedicated people to work together to achieve something positive for our community. With only a couple of exceptions, every neighbor who I talked to understood the need for expanded health care here in Patterson and was excited to sign the initiative so that we can finally get our new health center.
Like everyone else, I get cynical sometimes. Participating in this important effort has reminded me that when we work together as a community, we can accomplish anything.
